Yet another Christmas has passed, along with another year (11 months for A.M. though...our first anniversary is coming up). We hope you received some nice presents...and if you didn’t, you’re probably not the only one, if that makes you feel better. :o) <-- What a funny face. Haha...ha.

Where art thou?

Don't you just feel so sophisticated talking in Old English? Okay, so maybe it's just me...But to think that many 365-days's (?is that right?) ago, people used to talk like that and live like that. Women dressed up all nice with their fancy dresses and corsets, the gentlemen with their suits and wigs, and all romantics in the air like Romeo and Juliet, where the people lived in a 'kingdom' instead of a 'city'. A kingdom sounds so much nicer than a city...

So digital delay seems really determined to bring up at least ten articles this month, huh? Since I'm feeling up to it, I'll just say ...blahblahblah... and make this the tenth article (hopefully not the last, because then this would make a very sucky last article of the year) of the last month of 2008. (How many of the 366 days do you really remember?)

So here's the thing. I just wrote this fantastical and just snazzy article about a whole new year and the past and blahblahblah, right? Only to have my crazy internet (that's crashing as we speak) delete half of it...just because it felt like it?...and now, I don't really feel like re-writing the whole thing, so I won't. Doesn't that type of stuff just make you so frustrated? Sure, some pretty ahem.interesting.ahem. stuff had happened this year (I won't go into the details; you've heard your fair share). Even so, I don't want to end this year (no matter how bad it was) being p.o.ed at my computer, or spending another night 'in' (again), etc, etc, etc.

So go on. Have a spontaneous 365-days-of-2009. So where art thou on New Years? The best way to start it off is doing something fun, of course. Be it a party, or watching the Rose Parade/Dick Clark's Rockin Blahblahblah...I think that should wrap it up for now. I don't know.

Merry Christmas Eve - 2008

It's Christmas Eve 2008 (and A.M.'s first X-mas Eve), and all of the A.M.s wish you a Merry Christmas! Spend it nicely with your close loved ones--it's the one time of the year where everyone can forget about everything else and be happy with what you have and for what's to come. 2009 isn't too far off the corner ;).

looking backwards

This month is the last month of the year and in approximately a week(?) it won't be 2008. Three hundred and sixty five days seems so long but in reality it passes by without so much as a blink- without giving you time to breathe. These past few months since Summer have been amazing, and I think it goes to show that a lot can change in just a few weeks. Three hundred and sixty five days seems to be just a reminder of how much time you have, how old you're going to be next year, and a canvas for you to draw your life out on.

So what have you been doing this year? What's changed most? Perhaps you don't think you've changed at all, but everyone does- even if it's a little. So look back on this past year and be a little nostalgic, you'll be surprised at what you realize.

A.M. Halloween 2008 + ampleness!

It’s finally here—it’s the week of Halloween 2008. To celebrate, we have a bunch of new things for you to see!

As you’ve already noticed, Acquired Minds looks a bit dark. To commemorate this occasion, we turned it black, and we have a special Halloween header (made my Sendak). It’s only going to stay black for a week, so enjoy it while you can!

If you’ve been keeping track of the I-C, you would’ve noticed the progress we’ve been making on our new A.M. branch. Well now it’s finished, and we’re proud to present:


ampleness was a branch suggested by my.great.ESCAPE. What is it, exactly? It’s a weekly area where we post our top picks for music, videos, articles, books, and much more. We guess you could consider it as a fun and relaxation zone—there’s music to listen to, games to play, and new things to discover. With ampleness, you can delve into our minds just a bit further, and see what we think you should check out next. We’re currently setting up an info-page in the I-C detailing ampleness. Check the I-C soon!

In addition to all this, we now have a second Graphics page. We just added three buttons, and moved the 'Epic' collection over. It’s not much right now, but as we create more graphics and banners, it’ll expand :).

Two-Week Unity

Backtracking through my recent previous articles...the IOC has now commanded an official investigation on the age issue (jeez, I care wayyy too much on other people's business...[I can't believe I just insulted myself]). And no, I am in no way against China—I respect China. I just want things to be proper and fair, that's all. If China wants to save some of their pride, they shouldn’t be covering something as childish as this (no pun intended).

(Hmm...where has everyone else on the blog gone?)

It's hard to believe the Beijing Olympics are going to end in just three days (actually two days over there in Beijing). Such oxymoron—it felt short, but at the same time, it felt as if it took forever (Miss mourning glory, in the distance: "OXYMORON!" ...please ignore that). So many records were broken, so many dreams came true, and so many hearts were shattered.

What's my opinion of how the games went? Overall, excluding all the controversy, the Swedish wrestler, and the horrendous judges who scored the gymnastic routines...I think the games went very well. Many of us had expected a great display at the Opening Ceremony, but China exceeded expectations and absolutely blew us away with such raw talent. We all knew Michael Phelps would be able to accomplish his task (but hey, you can't deny having at least some thoughts that doubted he could do it). Some countries weren't able to defend their gold, but without new gold-medalists, how are we going to have new champions?

I've waited for four years since the 2004 Athens Games to watch the Summer Olympics again, and I have been totally satisfied. I ended up making myself stay up until 1 AM in the morning just to watch the late night competitions—with the thought in my head: "...it comes once every four years. I should make the most of it..." Yes, I care more about it than most other people, but that's just a personal preference :).

Okay, off to go do other stuff. I suggest you do that also, unless you prefer to stay right where you are and browse through other Acquired Minds articles...*cough*
