A Proper Title Should Be Here

I am now thoroughly determined to pump out enough article things to push the monthly amount to at least 10, no matter how many I will need. Although I’m pretty sure I shall fail, and that this will probably be the last thing I write for another few years.

When a person does almost anything that could be considered “creative”, writing, painting, making music, they will always put a piece of themselves in it. Sometimes it’s conscious, sometimes it’s not. When it’s not, it will influence them regardless. When it is, then it becomes a little fun. Usually, it’s with words.

A person use words that could mean a lot to themselves, but to someone else, it could mean something entirely different. Obviously this will happen for every song, every sentence, every piece of literature. But of the words are simple enough, and also vague enough, they can be distorted fairly easily. This isn’t a bad thing though, any artist will not always try to instill their feelings onto another very explicitly. Sometimes they just play around with an audience, if there is one.

Let’s take, for example, something I can’t resist using. Tegan and Sara, do this pretty well. They rarely use the words he/she, or names either. I can only think of a handful of times that happened. “hold, out for the ones you know will love you, hide, out from the ones you know will love you…” What?..didn’t that just contradict itself?, almost as much as my sentence structure there did…
Well, for whoever just read it, depending on our mood, our current feelings, what’s on our minds right now, our experiences, our fears, our dreams, everything.

Or “I’m not proud, that nothing will seem easy about me…” well, whatever you think it is. You can take it in a dirty manner or something better, hopefully.

“I won’t regret saying this thing, that I’m saying” saying to who? Saying what?...maybe just to themselves…..sometimes even the context of the song doesn’t tell thing

“I feel the knife going in, I’m feeling anxious, not enough to kill me, I thought it’d happen fast…” well you could take that quite literally, or maybe that’s the kind of thing that’s on your mind maybe a knife could allude to any number of things…
To be honest…the it’s about a dream the songwriter had where she was stabbed but didn’t die..or something…because apparently if you die in your dreams you die in real life, and if that happened in that instance, I’d be pretty bummed out.

I absolutely hate the tone I’m giving off right now. It seems too…weird. It’s kind of disgusting. When I read it in my head, it sounds like a deep, aristocratic voice…which I hate…musta been that picture gray book thing…but I despise it…I wish I hadn’t written in this manner……holysh*tmotherf*ckerwhichwouldkindofbetechnicallyyourdadinawaymaybenotbutholysh*tthereitisagain…..I think that kinda helped….hopefully I can snap out of this

The Way We Get By

Desperate times call for...desperate measures? Or so they say. Still, they (whoever "they" are) are right. When you're desperate there's not much you can do. Desperation can lead to acts of glory, or acts of worthy of nothing less then a fling of dung. Quite often pressure follows right behind desperation's tail, leading the unwary to do stupid things. That, or it would allow some people to truly stand away from others, and show themselves.

"In life you need either inspiration or desperation."
-Anthony Robbins

Regardless of who Anthony Robbins is (apparently some public speaker/self-help guy), that is a good quote. In life, you need some sort of motivation to move on. You need something that will drive you forward. Without a destination, what's the point of a journey? Why should you compete, when you don't expect to gain anything from it? Why should you learn if you're not going to use that knowledge? Why should you? To an extent, that good quote is also wrong (maybe). Perhaps, the point of the journey, is to realize what the destination is.

On a completely separate and random note, the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival was held on the last weekend of April. Being the first one I actually bothered to care about, I can't wait to see another one of the annual event. Though I wasn't actually there, there was a live stream...of...some of the performances... With performers like Prince, Jack Johnson, The Raconteurs, The National, Portishead, Rilo Kiley, Tegan and Sara, Death Cab for Cutie, Metric, Swervedriver, and plenty more...this one was great. Now, Bonnaroo is next!

Faux Pas

Here are just some random snippets in which I attempt to instinctively include as many bizarre and mindless words all meaning almost the exact same thing, while haphazardly looking up a dictionary for words that all mean that exact same thing because I have just absolutely and utterly failed my self-proposed mission; which means I’m a failure. Again. Obviously.

Apparently people fail at a lot of things. Of course, that would have to happen. If everybody didn’t fail, nobody would succeed. Then again, how can you consider that winning when somebody loses? (Scatman John, you are a genius)

Apparently I’m feeling a bit chaotic and random today, seeing how I’ve been reading the most random and insane book I’ve ever attempted to digest in my whole life.

I guess you could contribute that to being a bit hyper off of…nothing really. Guess that’s what happens when you’re a bit happier than usual.

Then there's that "sugar Down". The period when you sort of cool off, and sit back, and stop twitching.

So what are the things that you enjoy? The magnificence and joys of life, at least in your perspective, that you enjoy seeing, hearing, etc. The stuff that makes you smile. It can be anything really. Something that’s just incredulously silly, funny, or hilarious. It can be something with meaning, or something you relate to. Perhaps, the best kind of whatever it is that I’m talking about, is the kind that just touches you. Other people could be what the bazongawudgerfudglebadgarous (is that a new red Gretsch i see?) are you talking about? Yet all you’ll do is laugh and smile, or maybe in your head.

Most people are confused. Simply, they don’t know what to do. Isn’t that what mid-life crises are? I just can’t imagine older people, they’ve been through a lot, and just don’t know what to do with themselves. People go through the same routine everyday, and nothing happens. They wait a million hours for a billion grains of sand to fall, and at the end, all they get is a slice of cake. What a waste of time that was.

Weird. Your weird. I’m weird. We’re all weird. Everybody’s special, so that means nobody is. So if you try not to special, then your not special, and if you try to be special and different, your still not. What a load of **** that is. Who cares?!

Is it just me, or do i sound like I'm drunk, high, or about to die (haha...rhymes), because I'm perfectly fine and not doing any of those things.

I feel like I’m making some sort of infomercial for happiness.

And I’m that person who they pay to appear on tape that says how much you should call this number and buy this product just because I got a lot of money. So dial now while you still have the chance!

Most of the stuff here I stole from some other source…so thanks to the honored stealees!

So, what makes you smile, feel weird, happy, random, or just plain feel like “ I wanna **** **** up!” ?

The Privilege of Childhood

It's back to babbling about random-stuff-that-doesn't-relate-to-the-theme.

This time, I'm going to delve back into my past...way, way back. The time when I still chewed on tissue and swallowed gum and made sound effects with my mouth while playing action figures.

Childhood is seriously the best time of our lives. We get to play, mess around, have fun, and not ever have to care about the world. We had people that watched over us, we had people who fed us, and we could eat everything we wanted and not have to worry about your health (well, maybe not the tissue and gum).

It's also the time we do completely absurd things—you know, the things that we look back on and we start laughing, "Oh my god, I did WHAT? I so did not walk down an aisle hand-in-hand with a flowergirl holding a pillow with a ring on it." ...yes, I did that.

One of the things I laugh about myself were my imaginative stories that I wrote. Here's an excerpt from a story I wrote, Mike and the Mystery of Tike, way back when I was eight years old:

"There lived a boy named Mike MaCarthy. He just loves frogs and toads so much that his parents bought him a toad. He named it Tike. One day in school, his best friend Mark said that he loves frogs and toads too but his parents wouldn't let him. Mike was sorry for him. Mark even said he tried to go to the pond and catch his own toad. But Mike knew that he wouldn't catch it because he isn't even good at catching a ball!"

Yeah, that was one of my better-grammared one (by the way, I left it genuinely as it is). If you're wondering, the story goes on and Mike had to 'solve the mystery' to find his lost toad. Turns out, his friend took it.

One of other 'mystery'-themed stories was Where's Kim?:

"One morning,, the Tyson family was getting ready for a trip to Las Vegas. "Hurry up kids! We're about to go!", shouted Mr. Tyson. "All right!", yelled both of the sisters, Kathy and Kim...While Mr. Tyson was driving, both sisters played. Kim was 6 years old so she played with kid stuffs. Kathy was 13 so she write, draw, and do what other teenagers do."

Same as before, I left it genuinely as it is, grammar and all. The story continues on, and Kim gets kidnapped while sitting at a McDonald's restaurant, where her sister failed at her babysitting skills. They went on a wild goose chase, and eventually tracked Kim down at the MGM, where the kidnapper was about to blow up a bomb. They managed to save Kim in time. YES, I know, lengthy and weird...but that's what I thought was 'cool' back then.

Anyways, I would dive into my old second grade journal, but I feel lazy. But I'll tell you, you'll be laughing on the ground by the time I finish telling you what I wrote in my journal...but I won't, so sit right where you are.

And yes, I did make funky sounds while playing with my action figures. Hey, it was fun you know.

But, Honestly

Contentment is a funny word, at least these days it is. Being content basically means being satisfied. However, in today’s world, content is pretty much happiness. Obviously they’re very different words, but just dig a bit deeper. How many people that you know, if you ask them, would say they’re happy? I’m going to guess not too many. Therefore, we’ll consider the next step down, contentment, essentially happiness. If you know plenty of people who would say they’re happy, then terrific, you’ve surrounded yourself with happy, optimistic people, which can only do good things for you.

Everything today is about having “more”. Perhaps the only exception is that commercial “less is more” for toilet paper or something. Just look at super sized meals, and drinks. People are obsessed with celebrities, who have plenty regular people don’t have. Loving them so much, makes us want to be more like them. People want to be what they conceive as “perfect”. Everybody’s definition of the word will differ, however. Just as everybody’s opinion on “beauty”, or on things like cars, houses, appliances, instruments, electronics, will differ.

You look around yourself, and think when have you ever been content? You want a bigger house, a higher salary, more side-money, better relationships, better people, more stuff, and more. In a previous post, this was mentioned. Yet, while still imagining all the things you could have (and wish you did have), you can still imagine all the things others don’t have. Plenty of people don’t have shelter of any kind at all, plenty make a quarter of the money you do, and a lot of people don’t have a car, or the joy of music, or maybe even friends. There really is almost always someone worse off than you. Still, when thinking of those, the one that immediately comes off stronger in you mind is your situation, not anybody else’s. You will doubtlessly care more about a third-world country’s hunger than your favorite celebrities’ marriage, gossip, or that guitar you’ve been drooling over. Of course, that’s understandable, because all that applies to you.

Randomness (back again)
  1. Apparently, people fall into two categories: love addicts, and love avoiders. They basically mean what they say, oh and...don't quote me on any of this, i just found it somewhere.
  2. How many other people have picks that wear away next to the tip?...
  3. My (current) shirt has a bunch of stuff on it, but it basically it says you (whoever that is) talks too much so shut up.
  4. Who would have thought that, Eric Clapton (from Cream), John Lennon( The Beatles), Keith Richards (The Rolling Stones), and Mitch Mitchell(The Jimi Hendrix Experience) would be on the same stage?
  5. Eric Clapton and Eric Johnson made me appreciate (maybe perhaps even like) the strat. Oh boy, almsot forgot about Jeff Beck (i know there are a billion others, so don't pester me, like we all know Jimi Hendrix, or Stevie Ray Vaughan).
  6. This whole thing is like how Weezer's (ha..the muppets) "Blue" Album influenced them to have one of their other albums copy that and be named the "Green" Album.

Don't Make Me a Target

Guess who
No, not the Guess Who, you dumbo.

Don't you think it's shocking how things are these days? All the labels, stereotypes, and stuff?
Well, there's not much one person alone can do, and that's likely to stay that way for a long time. Pretty much everyone fits into one of the predesignated categories: jock, nerd, weirdo, goth, etc., etc. It's sad, even the very people who claim to be the ones who go against the stereotypes have themselves formed their own label. The individualist became a conformist the second he became an individualist. What a conundrum that is.

Everybody has a child in them somewhere (no, it does not have to THERE). lalalala

A lot of people accuse others of "selling out". Mostly artists, musicians, bands, and more. Like that means anything, with more resources, they can do better stuff. They can still make the music, or anything else, they've been doing with a major label. Maybe they changed, but perhaps it's just what they've really wanted to do for their whole lives. As Rage Against the Machine's Tom Morello put it "We're not interested in preaching to just the converted. It's great to play abandoned squats run by anarchists, but it's also great to be able to reach people with a revolutionary message, people from Granada Hills to Stuttgart." As long they do what they do right?

Pretty much, the only thing you can do is to say ," **** it all". Then again, that's already hard enough to do.

Just look at pop culture these days. Most of us know everything about Gossip Girl or One Tree Hill, or everything about Britney Spears' latest problems. Yet, most of us don't even know the policies of Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and etc., or what they're going to do, how they're going to handle the pressure, and things of the sort.

Just some stuff that make fun of all that. blahblah and muhuhaha
(that last person on that second link is....funny...)

For a random thought, aren't there a lot of people who have covered Rihanna's Umbrella? It's just' "Woah!" A quick search on Wikipedia or YouTube will give a huge list. These include covers by All Time Low, Mandy Moore, Taylor Swift, Plain White T's, My Chemical Romance, and Tegan and Sara. If you've seen some other certain posts by someone, then you'd know which one I thought was best.

Oh no..............I ran out of Klondike Bars! NOOOO

The funniest commercial I've ever seen. hahahahaha

Huh?

Well.....lets see here...

Seeing as how the other posts mentioned a few select words (music, recommendations, guilty pleasure, shy,etc.)....blahblahblah

Everybody has something they do, which quite frankly, they might be embarrassed of. I'm actually quite embarrassed to say I've never actually attempted to sing. Perhaps the occasional joke or something, but never sincerely. I think that's quite appalling. I do, however, have another thing. Two words : air guitar. Honestly, how can You (maybe just me) not air guitar to Weezer's Blue Album? Rivers Cuomo came up with same great solos. Or how about Paranoid Android's insane choruses? Along with all that, I do lip-sync...a lot. I just can't help myself but to lip-sync to certain stuff . Especifically Tegan and Sara's Relief Next to Me, The Con, Back in Your Head, blahblahblah and my favorite, the end of Burn Your Life Down.

Yup, it's hard not to laugh at someone like me, even I do.

Of course, there's the real guitar. Then again, what's the point when you can't even play it. Another favorite, that never fails to cheer me up, Weezer's El Scorcho

Some Random Stuff

  • During a portion of writing this, my shirt was backward
  • Also, for a short time, i was eating a Klondike bar (delicious)
  • Why doesn't anyone make cheap jazzmaster or double cutaway Les Paul copies?
  • So far, my favorite bass line ever is Only in Dreams
  • Love Paranoid Android, and its reference to Marvin from The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy, one of the best literature characters ever
  • Why do I not know anyone who likes Tegan and Sara, other than being great musicians, they're also hilarious...
  • I'm a guy, so my opinions would be......no idea
  • I have no natural talent in anything
  • I'm also a jerk.

yes, the date does make this look like I went into the future
